Six passengers perished while 12 others sustained injuries, some in critical condition, after a mini-bus rammed into a defective heavy-duty truck yesterday afternoon at Biahu in the Ahanta West District of the Western Region. According to the police, the Man Diesel truck, with registration number GT 6620-B, was transporting sand toTakoradi for construction work in the metropolis. The police said on reaching Biahu, the shaft of the truck got detached but the truck driver was able to safely drive it off the main road. Mini bus The police said before the driver’s mate could pick the detached part of the truck off the road, the mini-bus with registration number WR 1607-18, that was conveying passengers to Takoradi, emerged speeding towards the truck.
